This blog is for everyone who values the ideas and writings of George MacDonald. Through it we intend to give notice of upcoming events, reviews and general ruminations on this fascinating, but often misunderstood writer. George MacDonald appeals to a wide spectrum of people and that diversity will be reflected here. Please feel free to add your own comments to the posts.
Published under the auspices of the George MacDonald Society it will also include ‘notices’ from the George MacDonald WWW Page (www.george-macdonald.com) and will hopefully become the the first port of call for news in the ‘macdonaldsphere’.
I’m pleased to be the first person to leave a comment for this new Blog. Thank-you, Mike, for creating this site and for all you are doing to facilitate MacDonald fans, scholars, and initiates.

Mike – well done – and thanks. I look forward to the varied contributions that will follow.
I’m trying to find out in which book I might find the illustration of the resurrection picturing an old man with a walking stick, hunched over, going into a tomb…atop an obviously resurrected new man, looking heavenward…on the side of the illustration is “Ex Libris” on the bottom George MacDonal’s anagram “Corage Godmendal”. Please help me if you’re able.Sincerely, Robert Falconer wanna be
Debra,I hope that I have understood your question properly. Do you wish to discover the source of MacDonald’s bookplate? It appears that the bookplate design is actually a combined image from plates 8 and 14 of William Blake’s “America: A Prophecy” (1793). A similar image of the old man entering a tomb can be found in Blake’s “Gates of Paradise” (plate 15; 1793) as well as a similar image of the new man in Blake’s “Marriage of Heaven and Hell” (plate 21; 1790). Again, I hope that I have understood your question and may have been of some help to you.from Jeffrey W. Smith
